Junge (Boy)

Die Aerzte are a great punk/rock/other band from Germany. Their music and lyrics remind me of the Vandals and other cool bands that don't take themselves too seriously. It's sad that most Americans don't listen to many bands from other countries, especially if they don't spreak the language. My German isn't perfect, but I'll do my best because I think that it's worth it. Check out their music too, they're one of the few bands that have been consistantly good for 20 years: http://www.bademeister.com/ BTW, I haven't figured out how to do umlauts or copy and paste, if anyone could help me with that..

Junge
(Teenage) Boy

Junge, warum hast du nichts gelernt?
Boy, why haven't you learned anything?
Look at Dieter, even he has a car
Why don't you go to uncle Werner in the workshop?
He'd give you a steady job if you asked for it
Junge...
Boy...

And how you look- holes in your pants, and always this noise
(Was sollen die Nachbarn sagen?)
(What would the neighbors say?)
And your hair, words fail me- do you have to dye it?
(Was sollen die Nachbarn sagen?)
(What would the neighbors say?)
You're never home, we just don't know anymore...

Junge, brich deiner Mutter nicht das Herz
Boy, don't break your mother's heart
It's still not too late to write to the University
Du hast dich doch frueher so fuer Tiere interresiert, waere das nicht fuer dich
You used to be so interested in animals, was that not for you?
Eine Eigene Praxis?
Your own practice?
Junge...
Boy...

And how you look- holes in your nose, and always this noise
Electric guitars, and those lyrics- nobody wants to hear it
(Was sollen die Nachbarn sagen?)
(What would the neighbors say?)
You're never home, always with a bad crowd- we want to disown you
(Was soll das Finanzamt sagen?)
(What would the IRS* say?)
Wo soll das alles enden? Wir machen uns doch Sorgen
Where will all this end? We worry so much

Und du warst so ein susses Kind
And you were such a sweet child
Du warst so Suss
You were so sweet

And your friends, they all take drugs- and always this noise
(was sollen die Nachbarn sagen?)
(What would the neighbors say?)
Think of your future, think of your parents- are you trying to kill us?

*- The literal translation isn't IRS, but I think it's the German equivalent.
